Obituary of Mary Isabel Gonzalez Yglesias

Mary Isabel Gonzalez Yglesias, 90, of Land O’Lakes, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. Mary was a native of Tampa and a 1952 graduate of Hillsborough High School. She supported the education and career of her husband as they lived in different areas of the country, including Florida, Arizona, and Virginia. Mary was a longtime volunteer at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, and an officer in their Women’s Auxiliary. She was an active member of every parish to which she belonged, most recently at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O’Lakes, as a Eucharistic Minister and member of a Marriage Preparation team with her husband, Joseph, who preceded her in death by two months.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ysabel Gonzalez, and her husband of 70 years, Joseph Yglesias. She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Donegan (Vince) of Warfordsburg, PA, and Susan Freda (Pat) of Lutz, FL, as well as five grandchildren: Jonathan Yglesias of Richmond, VA, Katie Yglesias-Beach (Matt) of Culpeper, VA, Nathan Freda of Tampa, FL, James Yglesias of Newport News, VA, and Jeremy Freda of Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves behind her sister Mildred Guida, as well as many loving members of her extended family.
