Obituary of Betty McKendree

Betty Rayburn McKendree, 72 of Tampa, passed away Tuesday, February 25 2020, surrounded by her loving family.  Betty was born in Blanchester, Ohio and moved to Tampa in 1959 when she was twelve years old.  She graduated from Chamberlain High School.  Betty was an avid bowler, she played volleyball, tennis, softball, along with coaching softball.  She enjoyed being at the beach and soaking up the sun and saltwater and would rarely turn down a fishing pole.  Betty was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, who had the most amazing sense of humor and an incredible outlook on life.  She will be greatly missed by everyone’s life she touched. 

Betty was preceded in death by her parents William and Beulah Rayburn, husband James “Big Jimmy” McKendree, her brothers Hugie and David Rayburn, and sister Sue Grant.  She is survived by her loving family, her son James McKendree, Jr, daughter-in-law Kim, daughter Amy Campbell, son-in-law Kevin, and daughter DeAnne McKendree.   Her grandchildren Kai, Kennedee, Kendra, Jordan, and Alex.  Her sisters Nancy Legan, and Ann Soland and sister-in-law Elaine McKendree,

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 7 o’clock p.m. at Loyless Funeral Home, 5310 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., with the family receiving friends one hour prior.   She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, at 11 o’clock am, where committal services will take place on Friday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Betty McKendree’s name may be made to LifePath Hospice: 12470 Telecom Drive, Tampa, FL 33637.
