Sam: You are so special to me. While you were at USF as Professor and Chair, you were the greatest and a generous and kind boss. However, you did have one flaw. You were always late, and so it became my job to get you to meetings and other functions on time. I had a secret ally - Mary Ann. I would call her at home and get your ETA. She would give me the lowdown on your whereabouts or gently hurry you out the door. Mary Ann was a gentle, giving person and was always especially gracious to me. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sam -- As you know, all of us geology grad students at Northwestern in the late 60s adored Mary Ann. I'll never forget how the two of you went as a couple on the field trips, in an age when women were not welcomed amongst geologists while they were doing geology.
