Obituary of Blake Bassett

It is with great sadness in our hearts we announce on Friday, August 13, 2021, loving son, brother and uncle, Blake Dixon Bassett, of Land O Lakes passed away at the age of 30. 

Blake was born on May 12, 1991 to parents William R. Bassett and Cathy Larkins in Fort Lauderdale. He attended Broward and Pasco County schools and was a student-athlete, playing football at Land O Lakes High School and later Sunlake High School. Blake was employed as a cook and dishwasher in the restaurant business and apprenticed in plumbing and electric. 

Blake enjoyed spending time with family and friends whenever he was not working. He deeply loved animals, especially German Shepherd dogs. He spent time raising them and was passionate about their care and well-being. 

Never meeting a stranger, Blake will be remembered for his handsome smile, long talks about life, and dogs Lokey and Sadie. He was a joy to be around to all who knew him. 

Blake is survived by his parents Bill and Cathy of Land O Lakes; his brother Bill; sister Nicole (Robert Petron), of Fort Lauderdale, Stephanie (Jonathan Torres) and Tiffany, nephews Ryan and JT and niece Mila, also of Land O Lakes. He leaves his paternal grandparents, Bill and Darlene, of Land O Lakes and is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Entrusted with the arrangements, a memorial service will be held at Loyless Funeral Home, located at 5310 Land O'Lakes Blvd., Land O Lakes at 1:00-3:00 pm. The family encourages all who knew Blake to attend, share memories and celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, Blake’s family asks that guests donate to the Facebook fundraiser that has been set up in his memory. The family invites guests to join in wearing Blake’s favorite colors: green and blue, if they wish.
